Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I want a uniform !!

A. Uniforms (Dobok’s) are great as not only are they lightweight but you feel part of the class. BUT only commit to buying a uniform after getting a valid membership and only when you know your going to stay.

Q. What is my membership for ?

A. No matter what we do or have if life we need to have some form of Insurance, this is what your paying for. If you are injured everyone needs the comfort of knowing that your going to be financially secure.

Q. Can I grade ?

A. Your class instructor is constantly assessing your ability. Not only is it bad etiquette to ask to grade but your Instructor will let you know when he feels your ready.

Q. I've just graded, when will I find out my results ?

A. This is one of the most common questions asked by students and or parents. We like to tell students their results quickly, once certificates are made and belts ordered for those needing them.
However, delays can rarely occur, but are unavoidable. In the older days of training students sometimes waited a few months. This was to build their character and etiquette as no one dared asked their result !!

Q. How many nights should I train?

A. Normally its recommended that you train at least twice per week. We know this is not always possible but you should train regularly. The minimum training period is 3 months between gradings based on two sessions per week.

Q. How long will it take to get my Black Belt ?

A. How long is a piece of string???? Everyone differs.

Q. Everyone seems better than me !!

A. Remember even your instructor’s were white belts too !! It takes a lot of practice and patience to get better. You must practice the techniques that you are shown, eventually without you even noticing people will be thinking to themselves, “How can I be as good as him/ her”
